Then--Sunni vs. Shia civil war that cannot be stopped.

Now--Intra Sectarian Shia on Shia civil war that cannot be stopped.

Then--Shared Sacrifice must be asked of all Americans.

Now--Shared Sacrifice of fiscal cost of war too high.

Then--Too few troops to win the peace in post war Iraq.

Now--Too many troops in Iraq.

Then--The Iraqis need to take charge of their own security.

Now--The Anbar Awakening is insignificant, the stalemate in Basra is all that counts.

Then--Iraq's failure to pass political reconcilition laws is a sign of failure.

Now--The passage of the reconciliation laws is meaningless until they are all fully implemented.
