A Friend in Need
Written by JD Johannes
Friday, 20 July 2007

I met Jeff Emanuel at FOB Falcon in Baghdad last May.  I was on my third three-mont trip.  He was on his first trip and he only had the ability to operate for a little more than a week.

I like to think I convinced him that he needed to spend weeks if not months in Iraq to understand it--but that would be giving myself too much credit.

He's set to embark again.  Hopefully we will cross paths again when I head back to Iraq in a few weeks.

Iraqis Agree With JD--or Vice Versa
Written by JD Johannes

I found this poll and guess what?  Only 27% of Iraqis think they are in the midst of a civil war.

Funny, I kinda thought that way when I spent 3 weeks in Baghdad.

Thursday May 24th: Greenwald vs. Reality
Written by JD Johannes
Tuesday, 10 July 2007

In late May of this year I guess I was having trouble keeping up with events in Iraq's Al Anbar province.

At least Glenn Greenwald would say I was having trouble keeping up on events in Al Anbar province.

The source of my difficulty keeping up on events in Al Anbar province?  The fact that I was in Al Anbar province.

Benchmarks
Written by JD Johannes

The Democratic controlled Congress has yet to meet hardly any of the benchmarks they set for themselves.

Maybe we should declare the United States a failure.
