Rand Simberg notes that Hamas is acting like "psychopathic teenagers" because some Western nations have cut off aid to the Palestinian government.
Why would organizations like Hamas, which loathe the West, want America's money? The Jizyah mentality.
Jizyah is a tax on non-Muslims under Muslim protection. In other words: dhimmies.
In the early campaigns of the Mohammedans in Mesopotamia, Iran and Palestine, anyone in their path was offered three options: Convert to Islam, pay the tribute (Jizyah) or the sword.
The Mohammedan General Khalid bin Al-Waheed offered this bargain early in campaign along the Euphrates:
"I call you to God and to Islam. If you respond to the call, then you are Muslims: You obtain the benefits they enjoy and take up the responsibilities they bear. If you refuse, then you must pay the jizyah. If you refuse the jizyah, I will bring against you tribes of people who are more eager for death than you are for life. We will then fight you until God decides between us and you." (Al Tabari, Volume XI)
The Jizyah mentality is alive today as evidenced by the writings of Qutb, which greatly influenced Zawahiri and Mohammedan Jihadists.
Qutb wrote:
"It may happen that the enemies of Islam may consider it expedient not to tak action against Islam, if Islam leaves them alone in their geographical boundaries to continue the lordship of some men over others and does not extend its message and its declaration of universal freedom within their domain. But Islam cannot agree to this unless they submit to its authority by Jizyah..."
The Quran is pretty clear on the topic as well:
"Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection." (Quran [9.29])
Hamas' threats are another in a long line of bargains beginning with those offered by Khalid.
Convert, pay the tribute or the sword.
Hamas is willing to accept aid payments from the Jahili west because it consideres them a tribute of sorts.
And when you pay the tribute, the Jizyah, you are a dhimmie.
