I'm packing for Iraq.

The items spread out in the home office in Salina run from the mundane to the odd, but can generally be broken down into two types--personal and TV equipment.

The personal gear, starting from the top:

Kevlar helmet, ESS ballistic sunglasses,
Pinnacle Armor kevlar vest, Nomex coveralls, Under Armor t-shirts, Camelback, a custom modified H-harness for tapes and batteries, suspenders, 5.11 tactical belt, Gerber multi tool, cotton cargo pants, Covert Threads socks, Danner Agitator hiking boots, poncho, poncho liner, pillow.

TV Gear-
2 Canon XL-H1 cameras, 1 Canon XL-2 camera, bowl head tripod, two wireless microphones, one hardline lavalier microphone, 150 Sony tapes, camera batteries, microphone batteries, chargers, a power converter, Sony Vaio lap top, Varizoom camera monitor, 500gb hard drive, various connector cables, blank CDs and DVDs, thumb drive, notebooks, pens, back up software, rain slicker for cameras, 72mm filters, digital still camera.

Somehow I fit it all in a medium sized hard case, a large back pack and a small back pack.

I'm a one man show in Iraq and in Iraq the rule of thumb is a person should be able to carry all their gear by themselves.

Most of this gear stays inside the wire.  When I go out, I have the personal gear, an XL-H and XL-2 camera, wireless and hard mic, tapes and batteries and few pens and a notebook.

Support independent filmmaking in Iraq, buy a DVD.
